Who is Adil Baguirov?
For years being a board member in Dayton school, Adil Baguirov relieved his position for new opportunities. During his tenure, he has been involved to a number of things in further improving the educational system.
Education isn’t a finite process more so, it doesn’t start at morning bell and stops at dismissal and most especially, it doesn’t begin on your first day of Kindergarten and finishing on your graduation day on college, which has been seen by Adil Baguirov Dayton.
What really saddens Adil Baguirov is that, our current education system followed in different parts of the world is more focused on passing the tests, achieving goals and getting the right answers. There are a number of foundational blocks that are crucial for developing lifelong learning. And no, this isn’t a new idea introduced in the public instead, it is long overdue and many studies can back this up.
Number 1. Learning should be relevant – if we can learn new skills because we need it to do something important for us, then it will be easier to remember it. So as an example, for students who want to know how to properly measure the land area and calculate it to grow a garden, they will need a formula to get the answer. At one point, they’ll find a way to figure out how which will broaden their knowledge and learning.
Number 2. Extrinsic rewards – Adil Baguirov do believe that giving people rewards for activities they find enjoyment on are diminishing their motivation. To make it simpler, if you have a kid who enjoys reading and has become a habit for him/her to read 30 minutes a day, giving them rewards will cause it to have less pleasure from reading.
Adil Baguirov Dayton believe that these rewards should be reserved when it is only needed most to motivate people to do things they don’t enjoy much. With this in mind, the learning that comes with grades only becomes just learning for the sake of grades and not for added knowledge. Truth is, there are countless of students who graduated college with honors but can’t remember the content they’ve learned once the test is done.
Number 3. Group study – believe it or not, collaborative learning environment is encouraging students to think for themselves, explain what they think and learn from other students. As soon as they leave school, it’ll be more important for students to collaborate with each other. Still with our current education system, it insists to test them one by one and at the same time, encourages them to compete instead of collaborate, which is something that Adil Baguirov Dayton likes to rule out.
